Mossberg on Virtual PC

WSJ.com - Personal Technology:
The plague of viruses and spyware that afflicts computers running Microsoft Windows has sparked new consumer interest in Apple Computer's competing Macintosh models, which have been free of viruses in recent years and largely free of spyware.
...
If you buy a Mac, you should expect to run Mac programs the vast majority of the time. Virtual PC is best used for one or two Windows programs that you need to run only occasionally and for which Mac equivalents don't exist.

That's not a problem for most consumers. The Mac operating system is better and more modern than Windows, in my opinion. The Mac's free, built-in Web browser and e-mail program are better than their free, built-in counterparts on Windows. The Mac comes with an integrated suite of photo, music, video and DVD software that can't be matched on Windows. And Microsoft makes a Mac version of its Office suite that can seamlessly exchange files with the Windows version.
hmmm, why not just buy a mac? As long as you don't get the stupid black screen of death from a Radeon 9600 card.....
