Vegan Insomnia

“borrowed” from a recent edition of the New Yorker, is this cartoon of Vegan Insomnia. I thought it funny, but apparently some vegans don't have a sense of humor (must be lack of b12 in their diets....ahem)
Vegan Insomnia

update, to clarify, I don't really think Adam is humor-impaired. He probably isn't a real vegan!

I am not a vegan, nor was I offended by the comic. Ah, the perils of written communication!

hey, I'm vegan, I thought it was hillarious, but then again I take B12 tablets every morning

I'm a former vegan, but I still like the B12 sublinguals. Almost a year later, and I think this cartoon is still funny.

Great stuff... I was searching Google images for insomnia and sleep deprivation images to use on my Cure Sleep Deprivation blog. Don't worry I wont "re-borrow" this one, but man it gave me a good laugh ;-)

I'm vegan, and I think it's hysterical...counting little cubes of tofu...! haha :) Any Vegan?Vegetarian that can't laugh at this needs a brick to the face HAHAHA! Lighten up, people!

Peace all!

Was that tofu then? I thought it were those hay bundles.
but yep, it is kind of funny, there´s better out there though

I am vegetarian. I am not sure I would call it funny, maybe slightly clever.

Yeah, I thought they were little bundles of hay too! Tofu you say? Hmm... I am vegan but I don't get it, although I am prone to bouts of insomnia.

I think it's cute and clever. As a vegetarian I simply can't comprehend why someone might find this offensive. o_O

i'm vegan, don't take B-12 (imagine i get it from fortified stuff though), but thought that was rather funny. Not brilliant stuff or anything (making veggie jokes by simple tofu-substitution is quite common), but good for a chuckle. As a side note, my most successful way of falling asleep is to count my breaths. If I get to 60 breaths, I start over, and concentrate on relaxing and going as long without breathing as I comfortably can, so that all my breaths are involuntary, just like a sleep-breathing rhythm. And I might imagine scenes from the most pleasant dreams I can remember, especially ones that occurred as I was drifting in and out of sleep.
Works for me anyway, I'm actually sleepier right now from just writing out those ideas LOL.

i don't think people count sheep because they eat them, so where is the connection? i mean, it's like saying vegans can't pet a sheep, they have to pet a tofu, or vegans can't ride a horse, they have to ride tofu. it's just not funny. sorry, comic fail.

t5: that's a great idea
I want to ride tofu

I'm a vegetarian. I think that the cartoon was saying, in part, that we are fixated on tofu. To a certain extent, that is true.

I rate it as not funny / not offensive.

if your not vegan now...then you never were

Really? Once you are something, you can never be something different? So if I once had a beard, I'll always have a beard? Or what do you mean?

The link to the vegan who didn't find it funny is down, so I don't know what the argument was, but I'm a vegetarian and find it funny. Not hilarious, but it made me smile. I'm printing it out and hanging it next to another comic that has vegans posing for a photo and saying 'Soy'.

What do you think?
