Reviews Y part 3

Through the end of the Ys

Yo La Tengo
as mentioned previously, YLT were an intrinsic part of my early adulthood.

Painful
Love the droning From a Motel 6, I've emulated some of the techniques on guitar, in my feeble way. Nowhere Near is a quiet ballad, with breathy vocals. Quite nice.

Yo La Tengo
President Yo La Tengo / New Wave Hot Dogs
My first YLT album, on vinyl, used from the Record Exchange on Guadalupe Street and MLK.

Ride the Tiger
Not bad, only recommend if you are a completist.

Summer Sun
A little too pretty, with breathy vocals, and sleep-inducing melodies.

The Sounds of the Sounds of Science
All instrumental, composed to be played as the soundtrack to eight underwater documentaries by the filmmaker, Jean Painleve, which debuted at the San Francisco International Film Festival. Very mellow, moody, delightful. I hear some echoes of Electric Ladyland's underwater pieces, which says a lot about the genius of Hendrix, working with primitive equipment 30 years ago still being able to coax out sounds that sounded like underwater might sound.

Yardbirds

BBC Sessions

Umm, not bad, not bad.
