Bill Moyers for President redux

I miss Bill Moyers. By no definition could I be called a religious person, but I shall probably watch this series anyway.

Only two topics could bring Bill Moyers back to PBS--what are they?

FAITH & REASON

Returning to PBS, Bill Moyers presents this seven-part series that explores issues of faith and reason through
insightful discussions with some of today's leading authors. BILL MOYERS ON FAITH & REASON takes viewers on a rare journey deep into these writers' works and their own experiences to plumb new ways of thinking about the role of religion in shaping the world. These conversations offer revelatory observation on the long-running argument between believers and non-believers, as well an enlightening perspective on the fear, violence, and intolerance that grip our times. I assume Mr. Moyers will discuss the incredible disconnect between the precepts of Christianity as espoused in the Bible and the Christianity as is practiced by the so-called Republican Evangelicals (the Christian Taliban).

It is amazing how so many people of the Christian Evangelical Movement are have their 'beliefs' spawned by money(mega churches, publications, super conservative colleges and organizations, etc.), power and politics (President Bush all the way to the city dog catcher agreeing to one stance without a good notion of its affects in the near and far future, and way things are done ( lack of any sense of compassion or concern for others outside a very narrow range of viewpoint which is so much an anthtesis of the real conservative stance). The scientific community and the higher education are being totally chastized for their strugle with truths which might have even had a slight chance of making things significantly better for us all so that more can survive a world being greatly increased with population who have needs not being met while a few have a very limited stance that simply does not address their many needs.
